We wish to bring to the attention of patients and members of the public that new or amended clinical policies on the following treatments have been approved by the CCG. These are:
- Policy for Extracorporeal Shock Wave Therapy for the treatment of Tendinopathies
- Policy for breast implant replacement
- Policy for Assisted Conception Services
The last policy (no. 3 above) has been separated from the existing Policy for the Commissioning of Cosmetic Procedures, which means the Cosmetics Policy has been revised accordingly.
- Policy for the Commissioning of Cosmetic Procedures (revised following the removal of the breast implant replacement procedure mentioned above)
These clinical policies explain the criteria that must be met in order for these treatments and procedures to be given on the NHS in this area.
Arrangements are being made with GPs and hospital doctors and consultants for the implementation of these policies. Whilst this takes place there will be a period during which patients who were referred for treatment under the previous versions of these policies continue to be managed under that version of the policy.
For this CCG policy 1 above (on Extracorporeal Shock Wave Therapy) is a new policy.
If you have any questions about whether you are eligible for one of these treatments, you should discuss this with your clinician.
