Have your say
As part of the ongoing review of clinical policies for all the Clinical Commissioning Groups (CCGs) in Lancashire and South Cumbria, we are now seeking feedback on the revised clinical policy for the commissioning of cosmetic procedures. Currently each CCG has a number of smaller cosmetics related policies and these have been revised and amalgamated into one overarching cosmetics policy.
The types of treatments that fall into this policy include: problems with breast inplants, split ear lobes and tattoos. A full list is available on the draft policy.
We are now seeking views and comments from patients, the public and other stakeholders. This consultation is for a period of 12 weeks. The main proposal arising out of the revised policy is that the CCG will not routinely fund any cosmetic procedures or treatments that have the primary purpose of changing the appearance of a part of the body. Only cosmetic procedures where the intended purpose is to address a functional or medical problem would receive funding.
The draft revised policy can be found below.

To leave comments, please access the survey here.
You are invited to read the revised clinical policy before giving your feedback. You can click on the link next to the policy in order to complete a short survey and give your views.
To help you we have also included a Level of Change document that identifies what has been changed in the updated policy compared to the current cosmetic related policies. The changes to current cosmetic policies differ across the CCG areas.
There is also a Frequently Asked Questions document that may answer any queries you have about the process or about the revised draft policy.
Your comments will be fed back to the CCG as part of the development process.
As part of this consultation, the CCG will be hosting a public listening event on Wednesday 29 November, from 5pm at Hilldale, on the Ormskirk Hospital site. If you would like to attend, please let the CCG know by calling 01695 588 000 or by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org.
Full information on this event is available on our poster.
Comments on these policies should be submitted by Friday 22 December.
If you would prefer to have a hard-copy of the policy and/or of the survey questionnaire please contact the CCG using the contact page on this website or email email@example.com or call 01772 214244.
