During the festive period, people in West Lancashire are able to make an appointment to see a GP when their normal practice is closed.
To support the increased demand for health services at this time of the year, the local GP out of hours service is offering routine GP appointments during the day over Christmas and New Year.
Appointments will be available 9am – 5pm from 26 to 28 December 2015 and from 1 to 3 January 2016.
To book a routine GP appointment on the above dates, please call 01695 574634. These appointments are being offered at either West Lancashire Health Centre in Ormskirk or at Skelmersdale Walk-in Centre.
Dr John Caine, local GP and Chair of NHS West Lancashire CCG said ‘’As demand for health services can be high during peak times over winter, these additional appointments for residents of West Lancashire will help reduce pressures on our A&E departments which should be accessed for serious illnesses and life-threatening injuries only’’.
If you need a GP appointment outside of these hours (9am-5pm), the GP out of hours service is available for urgent appointments by calling NHS 111.
