Building carer friendly communities

Building carer friendly communities

The NHS in West Lancashire is backing Carers Week (8-14 June 2015), an annual campaign to raise awareness of caring, highlighting the challenges unpaid carers face and recognising the contribution they make to families and communities throughout the UK.  This year’s focus for Carers week is helping to build Carer Friendly Communities which support carers to lead healthy, safe and fulfilling lives.

Please see below events and information for West Lancashire activities taking place during carers week:

Did you know you know that from the 1 April 2015 the Care Act has made carers’ assessments more widely available?  There is now a legal duty for local authorities to undertake an assessment where it appears an unpaid carer may have any level of need for support.  Carers can be eligible for support whether or not the adult for whom they care has eligible needs.
