Meeting the Equality Act 2010

The public sector equality duty is an important part of the Equality Act 2010. It appears in section149 of the Act and came into force on 5 April 2011. It replaces the former race, disability and gender equality duties with a single duty that applies to eight protected characteristics: age, disability, gender reassignment, pregnancy and maternity, race, religion or belief, sex and sexual orientation.
