What do you think of local community health services?

The local NHS is welcoming views from local people who have used community health services or urgent care services in West Lancashire.

As part of its ongoing re-procurement of the community services contract, NHS West Lancashire Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) would like to know what is working well locally and what could be improved.  Community health services includes various local services such as district nurses, community matrons, podiatry, dieticians, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, treatment room services and end of life care teams.  The procurement also includes urgent care such as GP out of hours, walk-in centres and the Acute Visiting Service.

We are welcoming views via an online survey by Friday 22 January 2016:  www.surveymonkey.com/r/joinedupcare. Printed copies of the survey can be requested directly from the CCG by calling 01695 588 203 or emailing myview@westlancashireccg.nhs.uk

Claire Heneghan, our chief nurse, explains further:

“As local healthcare commissioners, we must continuously review all the contracts we hold in terms of patient safety, quality and choice, clinical evidence and value.  This procurement is therefore part of normal NHS practice.  This decision to re-procure is part of our vision for joined up care, which will bring improvements in care locally and deliver services closer to people’s homes.

“We will ensure we work collaboratively with everyone, such as hospital and community staff, the voluntary sector and other partners, on our plans and importantly consider the local community’s views as part of this process.   This element of co-design is something we’re committed to.  It is crucial we understand from the people using these local services what is going well, what could be improved and any other experiences or feedback they wish to share”.
