Information for patients registered with Viran Medical Centre

NHS England (Lancashire & South Cumbria) and NHS West Lancashire Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) have been working to put arrangements in place to ensure patients of Viran Medical Centre have continued access to primary medical care services after Friday 30 June 2017.

We have now (as of 30 May 2017) identified a new provider Beacon Primary Care to deliver GP services for the patients of Viran Medical Centre from Monday 3 July 2017. This arrangement will be a short-term contract of 12 months, with the potential to extend by a further six months, while more permanent arrangements are put in place.

When the new provider takes over the running of the service, the practice will relocate to new temporary premises. This will be a  Care Quality Commission approved, medical grade temporary unit, which will be located in the car park at Tarleton Health Centre, approximately one mile away from the current practice premises. We are currently working with West Lancashire Borough Council to secure the necessary planning permission  and expect a decision on 13 June. Please note that this is a temporary solution while we work to identify a permanent arrangement for the practice.

What does this mean for patients?

We would like to assure you that all services will continue as normal at Viran Medical Centre in Hesketh Bank until Friday 30 June 2017 and you will be able to make appointments and request prescriptions in the normal way. You do not need to register with another practice.

Dr Hindle will continue to provide primary care services to patients at Viran Medical Centre until Friday 30 June. If you need an appointment in July, the practice will help you make an appointment and this will be be delivered by the new provider in the new premises.
