Free event to help people of West Lancashire breathe easier

Expert health advice on lung care is coming to Skelmersdale on 11th April 2016, in the form of a FREE event open to anyone living locally with a respiratory condition(s).

Guest speakers, including local Respiratory Consultant Dr Sacha Youzguin from Southport & Ormskirk Hospital NHS Trust, will discuss how patients with lung disease can look after their health. This includes advice on reducing the impact of lung conditions, such as such COPD (chronic obstructive pulmonary disease), bronchiectasis or asthma, tips to improve your breathing and how to avoid long stays in hospital.

Sandra Bonner, Respiratory Nurse Manager at NHS West Lancashire Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) said “Respiratory conditions are typically complex and something people live with long-term, which why it is so important everyone understands how to manage their condition and symptoms.  Often respiratory patients can face long stays in hospital or admissions to A&E that could have been avoided with some more self-management at home.   This event is about showcasing some useful advice and tips directly from specialist experts to equip local people living in West Lancashire with the knowledge and awareness they need to help themselves breathe easier.”

The FREE lung health event takes place on Monday 11th April, 1pm-3pm in Skelmersdale, with no need to book.

Sandra Bonner continues:

“This event is open to anyone with a diagnosed respiratory condition so we would like to urge local people to attend.  If anyone is unable to make it but would like some advice, please contact the British Lung Foundation and/or a clinical expert involved in their care”.
